We all know that Vitamin C is good for our bodies. It keeps our immune system strong, and well, our mothers and grandmothers always told us that Vitamin C is good for us – so we basically just listened, right? And we should be glad that we did!
Yes, Vitamin C is found in veggies and citrus fruits like oranges, kiwis, and even in red bell peppers, but it is also a naturally occurring antioxidant in our bodies. Vitamin C is good for much more than just keeping the sickies away. Antioxidants like Vitamin C help repair our cells from free radicals – aka, potentially cancer-causing and skin aging elements. Vitamin C in our skin care routines can help us diminish wrinkles, fine lines and other aging issues with our skin. Hooray! This is why Sweet Spun uses high-grade antioxidants in all of our skin care products.
When we are exposed to sunlight, we can lose as much as 30 percent of our Vitamin C, and even more in areas of high pollution. We know… it’s a love-hate relationship with the sun! Knowing this, it’s a no brainer that skincare creams and serums that contain Vitamin C are now a hot commodity on the anti-aging and overall skin health circuit. ‘
In order for Vitamin C creams and serums to be effective, though, they must live in airless containers. A serum that is in a pump dispenser (known as an airless pump), for example is a good bet. Vitamin C creams that come in jars, on the other hand, are ineffective. Why, you ask? The Vitamin C is only reactive as soon as it hits oxygen. So if a cream jar is opened repeatedly, the effectiveness of the Vitamin C diminishes.
So go ahead, continue to eat your fruits and veggies. And be sure to also add some Vitamin C to your skin care routine to keep your skin looking beautiful… Or to regain some beauty that may have slipped away.
Now, orange you glad you listened? Your wrinkles will thank you.
